How to choose the right wines for your wedding?

Just like the choice of your caterer, the choice of winess is crucial to the success of your cocktail reception and wedding meal!

Once you’ve decided on the menu with your caterer, it’s time to match your food and wine: whether white or red, they should be the perfect allies for the dishes with which they will be served. It’s all a question of balance, so that the match is perfect and the wine enhances your wedding meal!

1/ Which wine goes with which dish?

Our different wines will be perfect for your wedding meal: https: //vavril.fr/oenotourisme/les-vins-du-domaine-de-vavril/

Don’t hesitate to plan a tasting of the Domaine’s wines! You’re in for a real treat! Our winemaker, Jean-Luc Ducruix, will be delighted to welcome you to share his passion and give you valuable advice.

There are two choices for cocktails, depending on your mood and budget:

  • The traditional CHAMPAGNE, which will seduce you with its nobility and the finesse of its bubbles. Le Domaine recommends Louis Guerlet champagnes(http://www.champagnelouisguerlet.com/), top-of-the-range champagnes from a family estate whose reputation continues to grow, and which have already won over the organizers of major national events. Domaine de vavril offers these champagnes at a preferential rate, so don’t hesitate to ask for more information!
  • A sparkling wine, such as PERLE DE VAVRIL, an effervescent white wine that you can also accompany with crème de cassis or blackberry, for example. A FRAMBOISINE façon ROSÉ DE VAVRIL (sparkling rosé wine, fresh raspberry and a drop of crème de violette) will also be highly appreciated and refreshing.

For your first course, a CHARDONNAY BLANC 2016 will awaken your taste buds and pair perfectly with scallops or fish. Its fruity aromas and delicate sweetness will also go well with foie-gras.

To accompany your hot dishes, think of the cuvée de CHATENAY CHIROUBLES 2015 : this fruity red wine with a very elegant mouthfeel is particularly recommended with poultry.

The cuvée de l’HERONDE COTE DE BROUILLY 2015, a finer, fuller-bodied red wine, will be excellent with meats that are a little stronger, such as rack of lamb or beef tenderloin.

For cheese, our winemaker suggests the cuvée de BELLEVUE MORGON 2015 : this structured wine with silky tannins goes wonderfully well with strong cheeses such as Saint-Marcellin or Saint nectaire, but also with lighter cheeses such as Beaufort.

For dessert, a CHAMPAGNE will bring your menu to a sumptuous close!

2/ How much do you need?

Even if it depends on your guests (young or old? lots of children?…), it is generally advisable to plan the following quantities:

  • Champagne – 1 bottle for 2 or 3 people
  • Red wine – 1 bottle for 3 people
  • White wine – 1 bottle for 4 or 5 people

In any case, don’t hesitate to leave a little margin! There’s nothing worse than missing out… The wine keeps well, and you’ll be delighted to drink it again in the months following your wedding!
