A long history

The Domaine’s history seems to date back to the Middle Ages, with typical architectural features such as the Saint André crosses in the reception room and the thickness of the walls. The house has stood the test of time, between periods of splendor, notably when it was occupied by a Russian baroness in the mid-19th century, and periods of abandonment after the Second World War. Seduced by the beauty of the site, Richard Brague decided to acquire it in 2004. Living in London, he was looking for a place to gather family and friends. His criteria focused on ease of access and the need to get away from tourist areas that were losing their soul and cachet. He wanted a place that people could make their own, an authentic place that would stand the test of time. A place for sharing and exchange, where the generations mingle over good food and conviviality. A place that lives. Domaine de Vavril was love at first sight! His father, Bernard Brague, and his children have joined the project. With the help of a young winemaker, Jean-Luc Ducruix, they relaunched wine production and renovated the buildings, restoring Domaine de Vavril to its former glory. The atmosphere they have created makes it an exceptional reception venue.

More than just a reception venue, our customers make the Domaine their own family home for their event!

A family and intergenerational project started 20 years ago

Family spirit, vines and wine, gastronomy and traditions Richard Brague has always wanted to find a unifying project to bring his family together and maintain its balance. With this in mind, he bought Domaine de Vavril in 2004, with the aim of making it his family home, uniting his family around simple values and pleasures.
