Noël à Vavril – DIY gold or silver wine bottles

Christmas at Vavril
DIY – Mercurized bottles
For your festive centerpieces and for our future brides and grooms, this article is for you!
Beaujolais Nouveau is long behind us, Christmas is just around the corner and yet you’re still nostalgic about the bottle sitting empty in the kitchen! Here’s a little DIY workshop to give it a superb second life for less.
You will need :
– Empty wine bottles, with all labels removed
– A spray bottle filled with white vinegar
– A can of acrylic paint in gold or silver (for the mercurial effect) or any other color for the plain version
– Paper towels
– Newsprint
Mercurized version
1. Stand outside and protect the area around the empty wine bottle with newspaper.
2. Spray the entire bottle with vinegar.
3. Take the gold or silver spray can and spray the entire bottle until the vinegar has dried.
4. Immediately afterwards, using the paper towel, gently dab away any small bubbles caused by the vinegar.
5. Repeat the whole operation twice: vinegar – paint – stamping
6. Leave to dry for half a day before using your vase.
Of course, you can also simply coat your bottles with the color of your choice!
